About KV NIT Agartala

The Scheme of Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) was approved in November, 1962 by the Government of India on the recommendations of the Second Central Pay Commission. It recommends that Government should develop a scheme to provide uninterrupted education to the wards of transferable Central Government Employees. Consequently, Central School Organization was started as a unit of Ministry of Education (now Ministry of Human Resource Development) of the Government of India.Initially 20 Regimental Schools, then functioning at places having large concentration of defense personnel were taken over as Central Schools during the Academic Year- 1963-64.The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act (XXI Of 1860) on 15th December 1965. The primary aim of the Sangathan is to provide, establish, endow, maintain, control and manage the Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalayas) located over India and abroad. The Government of India wholly finances the Sangathan. It runs approximately 1200 Kendriya Vidyalayas including three abroad, five Zonal Institutes of Education and Training and twenty five Regional Offices spread across the country.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, NIT Agartala is one of the Kendriya Vidyalayas run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi under the project mode (Higher Learning Institute) which is fully financed by National Institute of Technology, Agartala. It was started in Session 2010-11. Presently, it is running in the campus of NIT Agartala in the permanent school building provided by the sponsoring authorities of NIT Agartala. The Vidyalaya comes under Tripura West Loksabha Constituency. The Vidyalaya is fully equipped with all necessary modern physical and scientific devices like LCD Projectors, audio & visual aids and all essential infrastructural developments which play a vital role in educating the children and making education a fun to learn. The Vidyalaya has the sanctioned strength of 480 students with 01 section in each class from classes I to XII and 23 teachers, well trained, experienced, dedicated and capable of fulfilling the demands of the growing modern generation of students. Presently there are 450 students and 18 regular teachers in KV NIT Agartala
